October will be my 14th Spirit. I was sitting in a woman's meeting in Texas City and 3 women walked in and had something written all over their face and a glow in their eyes. I wanted what they had so I went to the next Spirit. And I thought Xmas was my favorite time of the year. I heard them say my 1st Spirit that you get out of it what you put in to it. Something has happened to me every time I have attended Spirit. I can't explain it but just wish every AA could experience it. Thanks, See you October

Where do I begin? This retreat is one of the best blessings my higher power has given me. I can't say enough about what it has done for my sobriety. I have made it a must be there happening for many years. I guess you can say I am one of the old farts that keeps coming back. Those of you who are asking what's in it for me, all I can say is suit up - show up & have the time of your life. Oh, please stay long enough to let the miracle happen on Sunday.
Thanks Lynn for this wonderful site.
LOVE you all! Melvin (17 years)

Thanks so much for the great site. Ah, Spirit of the Pines!! Just gives me a sigh of relief & joy when I think about being there. Makes about the 26th one for me and looking forward to many more. So many things....seeing people I only get to see every 6 months, meeting new people, seeing the freaked out look on first timers when they go through the hug line, hugging the trees, hearing Melvin share (yeah, you ole fart). See you in Oct.
Love & Peace,

Great job on the web site.
Every Spirit I've attended has been very special to me. I have met many wonderful friends along the way and learned that it's OK to have fun in sobriety. I had forgotten that I could laugh so hard that I cried, until I came to Spirit. One of the reasons I keep coming back so I don't forget.

I have now survived 28 consecutive Spirits. I have now shed tears of joy at 27 of them. One more time of seeing friends of 14 years that I only get to see two times a year - when Spirit comes around. Spirit of the Pines is not only where I found my God, it is also where I learned to love unconditionally. What a blessing this place has been to not only me, but the people I hold dear (which actually includes some people that have made comments on this web page). Hope to see you all in April of 2005.

I can't always make it to Spirit but my heart's always there with you guys. Ever since my first one where I heard Amazing Grace on the bagpipes and I cried and was able to let go and forgive and accept.....I've been carrying Spirit in my heart. I can't get off work in April, and try to make it in September. October is another month I can't get away. But I will be there every chance I get. You've shown me I can love God and love His kids.

I went to my first Spirit in the fall of 1989. Except for two Spirits, I have made every one since; the most recent being October, 2004. It is so wonderful to meet sober friends as far away as San Antonio, Austin, Plano and Sulphur, Louisiana. I will mark my calendar for the next one...April 15, 16 and 17. Thanks God and Spirit for my sobriety!!!!

It was great coming back after 3 years and seeing alot of the same people plus of course the newcomers with that deer-in-the-headlights look that I had in April 1998. And the Plano and OK people. Pat's badges for 25th anniversary. And Pandy and Carolyn A. (Athena the Meatlocker rules!). Will be there in September come hell or highwater...^^Carolyn C. Galveston^^

What a great web site. A long time coming. Although I haven't been in a few years, I consider Spirit to be one of my home groups. I have been busy reaping the benefits of my sobriety. Married for 7 years, with 3 year old and 4 month old daughters. I am so blessed!

What a wonderful Spirit!!! I was so glad to see all of my "long distance friends" that I only
usually see twice a year. It was very special to be part of the 25th anniversary of Spirit. Thanks to all of the old timers that were there to greet me at my first Spirit,..and thanks for all the first timers at this Spirit. I hope to see you all Sept 30, Oct 1 and 2. God Bless
